2013 - 2014

Yannick Ferrera had suggested the start of the season differently. In the first cup match STVV lost at home with 1-2 against fourth division KESK Leopoldsburg. This was the earliest elimination for STVV since 1979-1980. The first league matches went as planned, after nine match days Sint-Truiden was in third place. In the final round it became clear how loyal the supporters of STVV were. The city of Sint-Truiden placed several buses, so that 1000 supporters drove to Eupen.

It was a nerve-racking final round for STVV. The first two games lost STVV against Eupen and Mouscron. After that, Geel-blauw relocated with two wins against Leuven and a draw in Eupen.

May 22 was the all-deciding last day of play in the final round for promotion. If STVV won from Moeskroen and OH Leuven took the three points against Eupen, then the Canaries were promoted to the First Division. It would be a real party, everyone was sure that STVV would win. Leuven won from Eupen 2-1, so Sint-Truiden also had to win. Unfortunately, the 10,000 (!) Home supporters saw their favorite team 2-4 go down. Mouscron thus promoted to the highest football department.
