First win for the Canaries

STVV visited les Mauves today in Neerpede for a practice game. While the Canaries played their 3rd game of the preparation, it was Mazzu's first test with his new team.

These eleven started for STVV
Schmidt, Janssens, Teixeira, Al-Dakhil, Hashioka, Dumont, Boya, Kagawa, Koita, Brüls, Hayashi

STVV started strong, with high pressing. After fifteen minutes, Brüls, who wore the captain's armband today, recovered the ball and kicked it with his left. Keeper Van Crombrugge saved. 2 minutes later, another STVV counter. Shinji received the pass in space and gave a through ball to Hayashi. Hayashi almost scored. Corner for STVV. Brüls kicked in the corner and the ball fell into the goal after some confusion. An own goal by Lapage was awarded. 0-1 for STVV. The score remained unchanged until halftime.

Trainer Hollerbach started with the same field players and only changed his goalkeeper. Jo Coppens came in for his first minutes. On Anderlecht's side, there were many new faces on the pitch. Anderlecht took over the ball possession in the second half. STVV hardly created any chances. Around the 60th minute, coach Hollerbach brought in some substitutions. Van Dessel, Van Helden, Bocat and Kaya replaced Kagawa, Boya, Dumont and Koita. These changes did not affect the rest of the second period. Librici came in for the final minutes but the score remained the same.

First win (0-1) for the Canaries in this preparation. Now on to Standard on Wednesday!
