Promises Defeat KVO on Final Match Day

It's a shame the competition is over for the Truiense Promises because they are in a good flow. After grabbing the three points from Eupen (3-4) last week, they sent back a younger team from Ostend empty-handed on Monday evening: 5-0.

Keen to keep the three points at home, the pressure forward paid off within the first five minutes. Vandersmissen tested goalkeeper Schelfhout who had to let go of the ball but could not stop Balongo in the re-take: 1-0. Less than two minutes later, the 20-year-old attacker doubled the score: 2-0.

Although the Kustboys went to work, it immediately indicated the rest position. The goodwill at STVV turned out to be lost in the zone of truth and the extinguished game often stood still due to the offside of the visitors.

The second half brought more experience and intensity. On the hour, Vandersmissen drew a one-two with Gliha so that the latter could put back and Balongo signed for his third goal. Immediately afterwards, Lathouwers also fortunately presented himself in the right place: 4-0. Vandersmissen and Herbots then had to nip the following danger on the other side.

Fifteen minutes before the end, KV Oostende pulled Nitcheu's jersey in its own 16. The 21-year-old Vandersmissen gave the Truien opponents their final blow with his golden left one last time. Our back left thanked 11 loyal seasons at STVV nicely in the corner and under a sincere and deserved applause. Child from your own region and youth product, you are doing well! Final score: 5-0.

The yellow-blue youngsters continue their training for a few weeks. The make-up match against KV Kortrijk will no longer be played. With 9 out of 9, they close a turbulent season and end up nicely in the middle bracket of Play-Off II.
