Promises onfirm Top 8 Place

On the move against Essevee, the Promises won a nice game on Monday. In he second half, the 1-1 was oon wiped away. The 1-4 final score was already determined with better position play. The Promises now have as many points as the youngsters of AA Gent, Cercle Brugge and Standard, but keep their place in the top 8 thanks to a positive goal balance. The first 8 places at the end of the regular season play Play-Off 1 in the end of the season.

The high pressure with which the young Canaries started the game resulted in a wrong tackle in the 16 of the home team only 5 minutes in to the game. Vandermissen neatly converted the penalty kick: 0-1. STVV continued their elan, but despite several opportunities, they did not finish. Zulte Waregem therefore fought back. Herbots kept his team from giving a goal but allowed a goal just before half time: 1-1.

STVV started again with high pressure in the second half. Casa quickly threw the ball into the 16 on which Vandermissen could pocket the leather: 1-2. The fast game went a bit too far for the home team. Swers then dribbled past three men at speed and assisted Balongo who also held off his opponent and left the net shaking: 1-3. A few minutes later, Boosten shook the nets from 20 meters away form the goal: 1-4. During the last half hour, the Promises were still sporadic and Essevee could not shake the Truiens block anymore.
